A quick word: Artists and Schedules

Club Cupidus not only has great DJs to listen to, but also live singers as often as possible. I am an avowed fan of live music in "Second Life" and support it wherever I can. When time allows, I regularly stumble into live concerts and think to myself every time: Wow – where do all these fantastic artists actually come from? Hopefully, some of them will eventually make it big outside of Second Life.

When I want to book an artist for Club Cupidus, I put on my detective hat and grab my magnifying glass. I read profiles, check out the repertoire, find out who to contact (spoiler: more and more often, it's not the artist themselves, but their manager), and ask myself the most important question of all: When is this person actually available?

Fortunately, I'm now finding calendars in profiles more and more often. Jackpot! So I take a look, pick a free date, and dutifully write a request to the contact person listed.

And then... it happens. More and more often.

After all that groundwork, I get a rejection. Reason: No time.

Friends. Just between us: Are you kidding me? What's the point of this calendar if it's obviously just a decorative profile accessory? I request an appointment that is free according to the calendar and am told, “Can't do it, no time.” Um ... Yes, you can. According to your calendar, you can.

I've put a lot of time and effort into working with you, planning an event—maybe even with several artists—to make sure everything fits together nicely. I coordinate several people at the same time, wait two days for answers, and then get a rejection because of lack of time? That's like saying to me, “Yes, we would have had time. But not today.”

If you don't want to perform at Club Cupidus – that's totally fine. Really. Then just say so. It saves us all time, nerves, and gray hair. But if you want gigs, publicity, applause, and fees, then I have just one tiny, really tiny request:

MAKE. USE. OF. YOUR. CALENDARS.

Thank you very much!
