Wow! What a fantastic event that was. The opening of the Blue Basement on 20 March was a resounding success. At times, more than 50 guests turned up to see the brilliant artists and explore the atmosphere at the new venue. A huge thank you to Lisa Brune, Jack Slade, Tay, Reyna Titania and DJ Nadine for gracing the club with their sets. You’ve set the standard for what’s to come at the ‘Blue Basement’.

The Blue Basement is a small, slightly smoky club, tucked away in the bowels of District C - a rediscovered module of the space station that is also home to Club Cupidus. If you take the right corridor, follow a mysterious manhole cover and find the inconspicuous door with the neon light, sooner or later you’ll end up at the Blue Basement If you get lost, by the way, you usually end up in the storeroom for cocktail olives ...

In the Blue Basement, you can breathe in the history of Jazz and feel the groove. The smoke still hangs a little in the air, the saxophones sound as if they’ve already lived three lifetimes, and whilst you enjoy the show over a gin and tonic, whisky or something the barman simply calls a ‘special mix’, you quickly forget that outside, a space station is actually drifting through space.

The Blue Basement hosts the small, intimate events that don’t fit on the big stage: spontaneous jam sessions, eccentric poets, singers with voices like stardust, and pianists who act as if they’ve just stumbled upon a piano. Here, you still dress up, straighten your hat and put on your best manners – even if you’ve only just floated in from weightlessness.

And when the music really gets going, glasses clink, someone laughs a bit too loudly, and the barman insists he’s mixed drinks for three intergalactic presidents. Nobody knows for sure if that’s true – but at the Blue Basement, nobody asks questions like that. Here, you just listen, sip your drink and go with the flow.

The Blue Basement and the DISTRICT C are both part of CLUB CUPIDUS. We hope you have a great time and enjoy yourselves.
